Position: Mechanical Design Engineers Salary: Circa £30-45,000 plus benefits Location: South West with European travel Reference: 1110-23
The Company I am currently working with a highly reputable principal contractor and project management consultancy who specialise in complete turnkey solutions for the construction, high technology, energy from waste and utilities sectors. Their client base focuses primarily on leading electronics, pharmaceutical, chemical, automobile and communication companies, as well as research institutes and universities. The company have established an excellent name in their specific field throughout the UK, Europe and overseas. They currently have a requirement for a number of Mechanical Design Engineers working on specific projects across the UK, Ireland and North West Europe. Ideally these candidates will be based out of South West or North East England with the flexibility to travel to and work on specific projects across Europe.
The Role The primary purpose of this post is to assist the Engineering Team in achieving the objectives of the company with respect to Mechanical Engineering designs for both internal and external clients. In doing this, to ensure maximum commercial and technical effectiveness and efficiency is maintained.
Key Responsibilities
• To contribute to co-operative working across disciplines in accordance with the company’s procedures, and contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams, leading them when required. • To ensure the effective use of company resources and sub-contract packages in accordance with individual project cost plans. • To contribute to ensuring that effective internal/external working relationships are established and maintained with clients, sub-contractors and specialist suppliers. • Prepare estimates for the implementation of mechanical services. • Carryout site surveys to identify the Clients needs and requirements making recommendations as necessary. • Produce and develop designs for mechanical services. • Produce tender enquiry documents in respect of contracts for the provision of mechanical services.
The Person Ideally the candidates should have at least a HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering together with at least three years post-qualification experience, with sound organisational, communication, interpersonal and customer care skills.
A broad experience in the design, installation and management of building services. The post holders must have working knowledge of current legislation and practices in all elements associated with mechanical building services and be conversant with one or more of the following:
• Computerised Building Management Systems • Ventilation systems • Air conditioning systems • Domestic hot and cold water systems • Health and safety legislation • Design calculations software • Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure and on own initiative • The post holder should possess a current driving licence • To be conversant with one or more of the following: • To be reasonably computer literate • Computer Aided Design Techniques • CIBSE Membership at any grade • Evidence of continuing professional development and an ongoing commitment to undertake training and studies to meet the demands of both current and future legislation relating to the design of building services
The Rewards The successful candidate will rewarded with an initial starting salary, dependant on experience between £30-45,000 plus additional benefits including car allowance, pension, private healthcare, 25 days holiday per annum stats. Accommodation, fortnightly return flights and a per diem allowance will be provided if project based on a site in Europe.
Suitable candidates MUST have relevant mechanical design experience with an M&E consultancy, contractor or similar.
